This was a wedding where the children very nearly stole the show.

I started the day at the Brooklands Hotel, heading up to the groom’s room to photograph the boys getting ready. It was clear from the start that this was very much a family-focused wedding.

​

Before I could even begin photographing the groom, the youngest member of the party walked straight up to the camera and proudly announced “Cheese!” a phrase that would become the catchphrase of the entire day.

​

Lisa and Matt had asked for plenty of preparation photos of the groom’s party, especially to capture the children getting dressed for the big day. Seeing them suited up in their traditional morning suits was a highlight, they looked incredibly smart and were clearly enjoying the occasion. From there, the focus naturally moved into relaxed, informal family photographs.

​

Once everyone was ready at Brooklands, we made our way to the ceremony at Weybridge Registry Office. It was a lovely, intimate service with a warm and personal atmosphere. Even here, the youngest member of the wedding party managed to squeeze in another little photoshoot before Lisa could make her walk up the aisle.

Every couple has their own view on children at weddings, but I always find that when children are embraced as part of the day, they bring an extra sense of fun and spontaneity. They add so much character and often some wonderfully unpredictable moments that make the day even more memorable.

​

The celebrations continued at Silvermere Golf Club. For Lisa and Matt's portraits, two golf buggies were waiting for us, and we had great fun driving around the course to find some beautiful spots for photographs. It’s always a bonus when a venue offers such a scenic and relaxed setting.

​

The whole day felt like a true celebration of family, with everyone playing a part in making the day special.

As the evening began, Lisa and Matt shared their first dance, followed by a touching father and daughter dance. Before long the dance floor filled up with guests, and the party atmosphere was in full swing. After capturing a few more dances and plenty of laughter on the dance floor, I left Lisa and Matt to enjoy the rest of their evening surrounded by family and friends.
