A Pembroke Lodge Wedding Story: Suzanna & Joshua

Having spent many years visiting Richmond Park in London, I was exicted when Suzanna & Joshua asked me to photograph their wedding at Pembroke Lodge, a lovely Georgian building located in the heart of the Royal Park with sweeping views across London.

In the months leading up to the wedding, we met at the venue to talk through the rooms and grounds together.  This pre-wedding planning sessions is something I love to do with couples as it gives us the chance to talk through the visions for the day, discuss specific shots and plan for the best locations.

On the morning of the wedding, Suzanna made a memorable entrance, arriving in a pink London cab.  As the car made its way through Richmond Park, passing weekend walkers and cyclists, it turned quite a few heads. A fun and joyful start to the celebrations.

Unfortunately the weather didn't quite play along. While the ceremony took place inside, the rain poured steadily outside.  But rainy weddings can be magical too.  Guests gathered inside the elegant rooms creating a wam and intimate atmosphere.  We made the most of the interiors for group shots and candid moments, and whenever the rain eased off, we dashed outside for portraits.  The dramatic skies over London created a striking backdrop.

Despite the showers, the day was filled with joy, laughter and emotion.  Rain doesn't have to dampen a wedding, and this celebration at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park was a lovely example of how beautiful a wedding day can be, come rain or shine.
